Smita Premchander


Dr. Smita Premchander is a teacher, development consultant and an evaluation expert, with over 30 years’ professional experience in gender and women’s empowerment; financial literacy and financial capability, microfinance, micro enterprise, education of children, rights and entitlements for migrant workers, and devadasis, building people’s organisations (women, farmers, youth groups), social protection, and social development.  As founder and Secretary of Sampark, she has ensured that Sampark has grassroots development projects as well as contributions to the policy reform.gender, social development, microfinance and labour issues, in South Asia and other countries.

    Dr. Kiran Rao


    Dr.Kiran Rao is the Additional Professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore. She has worked at NIMHANS for over 16 years. She has been a great supporter and advisor for the well being of the organisation 

      Neena Paul

      Vice President

      Vice- President  of IL& FS Education technology Services Limited. She works actively with schools in several areas including Technology in Education and Teacher Professional Development with focus on  Quality in School Education.Her work with teachers and students includes   newspaper in education, creative thinking and problem solving, technology in education and low cost science experiments. She has  worked  for over 15 years as a school teacher in DPS , RK Puram , Delhi  and Principal in  AVM , Santacruz , Mumbai.  

        Madhu Singhal

        She is the founder and secretary of Mitra Jyoti, an NGO that works for rehabilitation of disabled people and is associated with various other NGOs including Association of People with Disability, National Association for the Blind, etc.

          Ms. Chinnamma

          Board Member

          The Vice President has 30 years of teaching experience in Bangalore and has taught children from all levels, and has taken teaching as well as administrative responsibilities during her teaching career. She is engaged in education intervention both in rural and urban project sites of Sampark.

            Chiranjiv Singh

            Board Member

            Chiranjiv Singh, a retired IAS officer, who has worked as Development Commissioner for Karnataka. He has interests in education, and rural development and has been a great supporter for the organisation since the inception. He has served as India’s representative in UNESCO in France for five years. 

              Suryamani Roul

              Board Member

              He is Vice-President of Livelihoods, ACCESS Development Services, a Not for Profit Company, promoted by CARE-India and DFID towards institutionalization of its programme learning on livelihoods and microfinance. He worked as Project Director, Sustainable Tribal Empowerment Project in Andhra Pradesh, CARE-India.

                He has been involved in policy & program formulation and systems development for dairy development, oilseed development, sericulture and natural resource management in various states of India. He worked with NDDB, the Swiss Development Cooperation, and now works with PLAN International, India. 

                  Mrs. T. Sujatha

                  Board Member

                  Dr. T.M. Sujatha a development Consultant and an Evaluation expert, with over 34 years professional experience in gender and women empowerment; micro finance, micro enterprise, rehabilitation of devadasi women by implementing the schemes in karnataka state women’s development corporation, building people’s organization(women, village level institutions) for social and economic development in the state. Worked as Assisted General Manager in formulation of schemes, programmes for women empowerment to take up IGA activities among women group at the Karnataka State Women’s Development Corporation. Gained experience in the field of rural lively hood projects and formulation of kere abhivrudhi Sangha.

                    Sushant Gupta is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SG Analytics(www.sganalytics.com). Sushant worked initially with companies such as Siemens, Schlumberger and Monitor in India, UK, Norway and Middle East. Since 1999, he has developed a successful track record as an entrepreneur in UK and India in the Information and IT sector. His diverse industry experience gives him the expertise to lead the growth of SG Analytics where the grasp of different markets and sectors is essential in understanding client requirements and conceptualizing solutions.

                        Mahesh Bhatt

                        Board Member

                        Mahesh heads MMB Legal and focuses on venture capital &private equity transactions, sports, media and entertainment matters, project finance and infrastructure projects. Mahesh also drives the firm’s initiatives in the education, hospitality and healthcare sectors. Some of Mahesh’s landmark achievements include working on India’s first Greenfield Airport Development Project and advising India’s leading sportspersons. Mahesh has been a speaker at events organized by The Indus Entrepreneurs, Singapore Business Federation and IE Singapore etc. He also regularly shares his experiences in the infrastructure and sports sectors at various national and international conferences and seminars. Mahesh also heads the Infrastructure Business Unit of the Alliance of Business Lawyers, a global network of law firms.

                          Sampark is a voluntary organisation registered in 1991 under the Societies Registration Act 1960 (Reg. No.333/91-92) and under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) in 1995 (Reg. No. 094420674). It has Tax Exemption Recognition under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961 (No.DIT(E)/80G/Vol.II/38/W-2/02-03). Sampark adheres to the norms prescribed for good governance of voluntary organisations and is admitted to the membership of Credibility Alliance. (Membership No: 00066KA05).

                          Prameela V

                          Prameela has a Masters in the Agricultural Extension University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore and she also has a BSC in Agriculture from the Agricultural University, in Andhra Pradesh. She has been a gender, micro enterprise and livelihood specialist for 22 years. At Sampark, she manages the urban projects of sampark which helps empower 10,000 urban migrant workers. She has also played an important role in opening and running day care cum non-formal education centres for children of migrant families and community based mental health care centres.

                            Shameen Banu N

                            Banu works as Accountant and has been handling the finances of Sampark for the last 18 years. She has also worked in various research projects in Sampark and has been involved in large projects managing finances for research projects in different countries.

                              K G Meenakshi

                              Meenakshi has been working with Sampark as the support staff for last 16 years providing the necessary help and assistance as and when required. She is also part of the research team and involved in action project as a field researcher in Koppal.

                                Manjunatha Hosalli

                                Manjunath has completed his M.A. in Social work along with an M.A. in Women’s studies. He has work experience of 8 years and is a project Coordinator in Sampark in Koppal District. He has worked on formation of youth and farmer groups and helps provide trainings and linkages to the youth group and farmers groups. He is also involved in various research projects of Sampark and is closely monitoring the work of cooperatives.

                                  Uma B Shirol

                                  Uma has completed her B.Ed in Hindi. She has a work experience of 17 years and has worked on women empowerment, SHG Formation and has helped to provide training to SHGs as well ad the cooperative members. She has worked in mainstreaming the government schemes to SHGs and conducting Gender sensitization and leadership workshops for women. She is also involved in various research projects of Sampark. She is currently a project coordinator of the Prerane education program for primary schools.

                                    John P Moses

                                    John is from Bengaluru and works as a Field officer at the Sampark Migrant Support Project (WRC) since the past three and a half years. He has eight years of work experience in Sales and Marketing in ICICI and HDFC Banks, as a coordinator and Team Leader. Hobbies: Music, Drummer, Composing and listening. In work he believes in Task oriented job rather than time, enjoying new tasks and being ready to handle tough situations. As in Migrant project concern every day is with new ideas, learnings and achievements.

                                      Mahadevi Ghorpode

                                      Mahadevi has a Master’s Degree in Social Work, and has worked in Kalike Organisation, in the field of Early Childhood care and education as a project coordinator. She is currently working in Sampark as a Project Coordinator at the Migrant Support Project (WRC) since the past one year. She works on empowerment of migrant workers and children, and in the Migrant Support project she coordinates the day care centers run by sampark and also looks after the activities of Workers Resources Center

                                        Kiran N

                                        Kiran works as Admin and Field Officer at the Sampark Migrant Support Project (WRC) since the past one and half years. Fresher, Hobbies:  Playing Video Games, Listening to Music. Interested in involving in all the activities of WRC that helps the workers for a better position and self sustainability in society.


                                          Manjula is from Bengaluru and works as a field officer at the Migrant Support Project (WRC) from past three half years. She has overall fifteen years work experience as link worker, community animator. Her hobbies are watching news and listening to music. In this project she likes to accept challenges and bring sustainability in workers life.

                                            Sundar M

                                            Sundar is from Yadagiri and works as Field Officer at Migrant Support Project (WRC) from past two half years. He has seven years work experience as a teacher and Construction Supervisor. His hobbies are reading books and listening to music. In the migrant project he believes we are showing the right path to the workers in the society.
